There are two modes for determining the location of a tapping event:
- User taps on a tag via an app. If the user has approved the location in the app, the location will be displayed based on the GPS coordinates sent by the device.
- User taps via an app without approving the location or without an app (Android only). In this case, CNECT determines the location based on the public IP of the request. CNECT uses industry standard databases that approximate the location. CNECT also displays the perceived accuracy of the location. Dependent upon the country and cellular operators/carriers, the accuracy could be at the city or country level. For example, if the user is roaming outside of his/her country, his/her location will be the home country since cellular data is routed via his/her home operator/carrier.
